Alternative therapy and complimentary medicine

HAF

The first Healthy Alternative Fair was held in early 2004 as a means to bring together alternative health practitioners and staff, patients and health care professionals at the James Cook University Hospital trust - the largest teaching hospital in Europe.

Fairs have been held regularly since then and the range of exhibitors and interest has grown tremendously. They are managed through the hospital radio station Southside Radio, which itself has been broadcasting and entertaining for over 20 years not only to the hospital but to the local community too.

If you would like to be part of the fair then please contact us for more details and prices, or download the registration form and return it to us.

What they say!

First time fair-goer Shelagh Jones was kind enough to share her HAF 4 experience with us. Here's what she had to say:

"I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and was very impressed by the organisation. There were plenty of 'helpers' to assist with the set-up and close-down which made the process easy and stress-free - often not the case at these events!

Good signage around the hospital ensured a steady stream of visitors all day long - I got two pages of names of people wanting my quarterly newsletter, which was what I was promoting.

Additional publicity (and my first opportunity to broadcast live!) came through an informal interview on Southside Radio with Alexius - he made it all so comfortable and helped me to get my sales message across in a relaxed but effective way.

And I greatly appreciated that Jason handled all the enquiries at my stand whilst I was in the Studio. And I hugely enjoyed networking with the other Exhibitors - it was good to meet so many other people running businesses like mine, intent on improving people's health and well-being in some way.

My intention was to introduce people to our new tooth powder, Microcare, give them samples to try, and find new subscribers to my Quarterly newsletter. I handed out around 30 samples of Microcare, together with my contact details - most of these people wanted to receive my newsletter.

A further 10 people enquired about one or more other products, and requested further information together with my newsletter. Finally, I thought that the fact the event was taking place within a Hospital gave us all added credibility, and encouraged visitors to look at what they might not have come across before. No wonder I've got my booking for June 2005 in the post!"
